Fall 2008 Course: PS5 Introduction to International Relations
A specialist in International Relations, Dr. Gurowitz received
her Ph.D. from Cornell University in 1999. Her doctoral dissertation,
Mobilizing International Norms: Domestic Actors, Immigrants,
and the State, is a comparative study of variation in the
application of international human rights norms as they pertain
to immigration. The cases of Germany, Canada, Malaysia, and
Japan received particular attention. The latter case is examined,
as well, in a World Politics article, "Mobilizing International
Norms: Domestic Actors, Immigrants, and the Japanese State,"
(April, 1999). Prior to receiving her doctorate, Ms. Gurowitz
was a pre-doctoral fellow at Harvard University's Center for
International Affairs. Dr. Gurowitz teaches courses on immigration
(PS149) and on international ethics and justice (PS 123).
