Diplomas

The ceremonial scroll you receive at Commencement is not a diploma, since degrees take several months to process. Diplomas are available approximately 4-5 months after each graduation date.

You can pick it up your diploma from the Diploma Office in 120 Sproul Hall, with a photo ID, or have someone pick it up for you, both at no charge. If someone picks it up for you they must have a photo ID and a letter of authorization from you.

To have it mailed, complete the Diploma Request Form available at the Registrar's Diploma website at http://registrar.berkeley.edu/Records/diplomas.html and follow the instructions. If you are unable to download the form, you can request your diploma by letter. Be sure to include your name, birthdate, Social Security number, SID, degree and date it was awarded, and the address to which you want the diploma sent.

Mailing charges are US $12.00 within the United States or US $32.00 outside the United States. Diplomas are sent by UPS. Someone must be present at delivery to sign for the diploma.

A check, payable to the UC Regents, must be included with your mailed request. Send your request to the Office of the Registrar, Attention: Diplomas, 120 Sproul Hall, University of California, Berkeley, California 94720-5404.

Unclaimed diplomas are retained for a period of five (5) years only, after which they are destroyed.

Questions can be addressed to the Diploma Office at 510-642-4814.
