Professor Ziegler received his Ph.D. from Harvard University
in 1989. His interests include European politics, comparative
political economy, and political ideologies. He is currently
working on the politics of economic reform in Germany. His
publications include Governing Ideas: Strategies for Innovation
in France and Germany (Cornell: 1997; German edition,
Campus Verlag, 1999); “Corporate Governance and the Politics
of Property Rights in Germany,” Politics and Society
(June 2000); “Institutions, Elites, and Technology Advance
in France and Germany,” World Politics (April 1995);
and essays in other journals and a number of edited volumes.
Before coming to Berkeley, Professor Ziegler was Associate
Professor at the Sloan School of Management at MIT. He has
held fellowships from the Woodrow Wilson Center, the German
Marshall Fund, and the Max-Planck-Institut für Gesellschaftsforschung
in Cologne.
